Introduction

This site is a support resource for users of Cyanview products (RCP, RIO, CI0, NIO, VP4, Multi-Cam Dashboard, and more). It covers product overviews, configuration, and how to connect a wide range of cameras. It is organized so that even if you have never used Cyanview products before, you can read from this page onward, understand what each device does, and get all the way through setup.

What Is a Cyanview System?

A Cyanview system is a set of devices built around the RCP (camera control panel) for controlling and shading (adjusting brightness and color of) many different camera brands and types together over a network (IP). Cameras that connect directly over IP are controlled straight from the RCP. Serial cameras, USB cameras, lenses, and cameras at remote locations are controlled through an interface device (a CI0 or RIO) placed near the camera.

What Each Product Does

ProductTypeRole
RCPHardware (control panel)Camera control panel with physical knobs and a touchscreen. It is the center of the system, and cameras are configured on it (Web UI). A joystick version, the RCP-J, is also available
RIOHardware (camera-side controller)Contains the same camera control software as the RCP plus CI0-style serial ports, and can control cameras by itself. Used for USB cameras, lens control, and remote control over Wi-Fi, cellular, or the internet (REMI)
CI0Hardware (interface)Converts commands from the RCP or RIO over the network (IP) into the camera's serial signal. Used to control serial cameras on the same local network as the RCP
NIOHardware (GPIO expansion)Adds 16 GPIOs (contact inputs/outputs used for tally input and similar) over Ethernet
VP4Hardware (color corrector)A color corrector for 4 channels of SDI video. Operated from the RCP, it is used for advanced color matching beyond what the camera itself can do
IJ (Iris Joystick)RCP componentThe iris joystick fitted to the RCP-J
Tally LightAccessoryExternal tally light for cameras without built-in tally
Multi-Cam DashboardSoftware (built into the RCP)A web app built into the RCP that shows and controls all cameras from a browser
CyanView StudioSoftware (computer)Desktop app that controls multiple RCPs and RIOs from one screen and also performs real-time color adjustment (3D LUT generation) (early access)
CyanCameraSoftware (smartphone)App that turns a smartphone into a camera you can control from the RCP

:::note About "CI0" and "CIO" The product name is CI0 (pronounced "C-I-zero"; the last character is the digit "0"). In this site's menus and URLs it is sometimes written as "CIO" by convention. :::

What Do You Need? (Typical Combinations)

The devices you need depend first on how the camera connects.

How the camera connects / use caseDevices neededWhere you configure it
Cameras controllable over IP (LAN), such as PTZ camerasRCPRCP
Serial cameras (such as mini cameras) controlled on the same local network as the RCPRCP + CI0RCP (the CI0 has no Web UI)
USB cameras (such as mirrorless cameras), lens control, remote control over Wi-Fi, cellular, or the internetRCP + RIORIO (linked to the RCP via REMI)
Tally signals via GPIO (contacts), or more GPIOs neededRCP + NIORCP
Color matching beyond the camera's own adjustmentsRCP + VP4RCP / VP4

In every case, you also need a computer (web browser) for configuration and a network switch to connect the devices. The RCP and CI0 support PoE (power over the LAN cable), so a PoE switch reduces power cabling (the RIO does not support PoE and is powered from DC). For help choosing between a CI0 and a RIO, see "CI0 or RIO?" on About CIO.

Reading Order

If you are setting up Cyanview products for the first time, read in this order:

  1. Getting Started — How to find a device's IP address, open the configuration page (Web UI), and add a camera
  2. Your product's page — From What Each Product Does above. Installation details such as power, wiring, and network connection are in each product's manual
  3. Camera-Specific Setup Guides — Connection and setup steps for your camera brand and model. To search by model name, see the supported models list
  4. Other settings as needed — Tally, REMI (RCP–RIO pairing and remote control), Preview/touchdown, and more
  5. Product Update — We recommend updating your devices to the latest software before going into production

If you run into problems, see Troubleshooting and the FAQ.
