The term "REMI" generally refers to remote production workflows, but Cyanview's implementation offers additional capabilities beyond that. This guide explains how REMI works in a Cyanview system, how to access the REMI menu, how to add tags, how to import a RIO using a REMI tag, and how to use Manual IP mode.

Supported products

  • RCP
  • RCP-J
  • RIO
  • NIO

LAN workflow overview

A workflow within a local area network is the simplest way to use REMI tags, and it essentially consists of connecting a RIO or RCP device to an RCP.

Connecting a RIO to an RCP

Step 1: Open the REMI menu

Open the "REMI" menu in the RIO's UI.

Step 2: Add a tag

Add a "Tag" in the field on the right.

caution

Tags are case-sensitive. Treat REMI tags like a password — anyone who knows the tag can access and control the configuration. Avoid tags that are too simple or easy to guess.

Step 3: Set up the same tag on the RCP

Repeat the same steps in the RCP's UI, using the same REMI tag.

Step 4: Confirm the connection

Once added, the RIO will appear in the menu.

Importing cameras connected to a RIO

  1. Click the "Remote Control" checkbox
  2. Select individual cameras, or select "Remote Control" for all cameras
  3. Access the RCP's configuration menu
  4. The camera(s) will now show as "Imported"

Manual IP workflow

The REMI tag is announced with broadcast packets. Some networks block broadcast packets, so devices may not see each other (for example, wireless solutions such as some IP mesh systems, where the radios block broadcast packets). In this case, you need to add the RIO's IP address manually.

Configuration steps:

  1. Click the "…" (ellipsis) in REMI Settings
  2. Select "Advanced Mode"
  3. A "Manual IP" section is added to the interface
  4. Enter the RIO's IP address and click "+"

After entering the RIO's IP address into REMI, proceed with the same camera import steps described above.

If you want to control a RIO remotely for production, or over the public internet (e.g. via a 4G dongle), see WAN/Public Internet Edition. For information on using REMI tags across multiple RCPs (Cyanview RCP MSU), see the official multiple-RCP workflow guide.
