About version numbering
Version numbers use the format YY.M.N[rcX].
| Part | Meaning |
|---|---|
YY | Release year, on two digits |
M | Release month number |
N | Incremental number. The initial version is always 1; numbers greater than 1 are hotfix versions |
rcX (optional) | Release candidate, where X is an incremental build number. Release candidates are usually stable but may include new features that could introduce instabilities |

:::tip Which version should I install? For production use, the usual choice is the latest stable release compatible with your device. Experimental and release-candidate (rc) versions are for trying new features early. Older cy-rio (15-1 to 15-50) and cy-nio (22-1 to 22-50) units use 25.9.5. :::
