The RIO (pronounced "ree-oh") is Cyanview's standalone camera control device, placed near the camera. It combines the serial ports, display, and buttons of a CI0 with the camera control software and configuration Web UI of an RCP. It is easiest to think of it as an RCP without the user panel.

Because the RIO runs the camera configuration by itself, the camera and lens remain controlled by the RIO even if the link to the RCP is unplugged or unstable.

When to Use a RIO

  • Lens control
  • USB cameras, such as mirrorless cameras
  • LAN control over Wi-Fi
  • Polecam, gimbal, and remote camera workflows
  • Remote control over the internet or cellular networks (REMI)

If you are unsure whether to use a CI0 or a RIO, see "CI0 or RIO?" on About CIO.

Licenses (RIO LAN / RIO WAN)

The hardware is the same; the license defines the available REMI features.

LicenseCamerasREMI access
RIO WANUnlimitedThrough the cloud (remote control over the internet)
RIO LAN (formerly RIO Live)Up to 2Local network only

See Licenses for details.

Getting Started

  1. Prepare power: the RIO does not support PoE. Supply DC power from a D-Tap (from a camera or battery) or a power supply (see Power Supply).
  2. Find the IP address: use the left and right arrow buttons to cycle through the menus; the screen shows the IP address.
  3. Configure cameras in the Web UI: open the RIO's Web UI in a browser and add cameras. Configuration is exactly the same as on the RCP, so the camera-specific setup guides apply as-is.
  4. Link it to an RCP: set the same REMI tag (a shared pairing word) on the RIO and the RCP, then import the RIO's cameras into the RCP.

For detailed steps 2–4, see Getting Started; for REMI details, see REMI Configuration and Using REMI Tags (Local Network).

Camera-Specific Setup Guides

The methods for connecting to and controlling cameras are shared across RCP, RIO, and CIO. See the camera-specific setup guides.
