Can the CI0 power a camera using PoE only?

The CI0 can typically power and control one mini camera per port. It is not designed for large camcorders that require a battery or an external power supply. With some camcorders such as Sony ENG cameras, the CI0 itself is powered from the camera (the right cable is required), so power doesn't have to be provided by PoE or an external supply. See the CI0 manual for details.

How many CI0 units can a single RCP control?

There is no limit. You can use as many CI0 units as you need.

If multiple RCPs and multiple CI0 units are on the same network, how is addressing/numbering handled? Can any CI0 be controlled from any RCP?

A given CI0 and the camera connected to it can only ever be controlled by one RCP at a time. Once a CI0 has been configured on an RCP, it is unavailable to other RCPs until it is removed from that RCP. For remote productions that require control by multiple operators, consider using a CY-GWY or a distributed architecture.

I want to set the IP address myself — is that possible?

RCP, GWY, and RIO support multiple IP addresses and a custom default route for internet access (from Release 21 onward). Multiple IPs are typically useful to reach a range of IP cameras (usually PTZ) or a technical network, to change internet access from DHCP to static, or to add special routes for VPNs or VLANs. See IP Configuration. However, you cannot delete the factory-default IP used to control local devices such as the CI0. IP configuration for the CI0 itself is not currently supported, but is planned for a future update. Note that the CI0 is not the right device for high-latency networks such as VPNs — a RIO is typically used for those cases instead.

Is there documentation for building my own GPIO-8 cable?

The GPIO-8 is an active cable that contains electronic components and IDs for auto-detection. Because it is not a simple wired cable, no documentation for building it yourself is published.

Can cameras using different control protocols be controlled by the same RCP system?

Yes, you can mix any of the supported protocols on a single controller. Even on a CI0, each port can use a different protocol.

What is Discovery?

Cyanview devices include automatic detection. The RCP detects Cyanview network devices connected to it and identifies them automatically upon connection. The Discovery page lists all detected devices and is useful for checking network configuration.

What is the RCP Dashboard?

It's an extended monitoring feature accessible at [CY-RCP IP/DNS name]:5000. It lets you check RCP status (memory, temperature), run ping commands, and access the MQTT client interface.

Can an external tally light be connected to the CI0?

Yes — the simplest method is to connect an LED to the 12V output on the second port (see Building a CI0 Tally LED for an example). Additional GPIO pins are also available for controlling other electronic equipment.
